We are capable of adhering to the 60 calls per minute restriction through optimisation of our code however adhering to the calls per day is an impossibility for us. Due to the way our application functions we need to make more than calls. The way our application works is it effectively downloads an audit trail from a company from within a Xero account. In our experience for about 2 years worth of accounting data for our larger clients this can result in 40 API calls using paging on Invoices, bank transactions and manual journals.

Our clients will need to download this data possibly 5 to 6 times per person and overall could possibly have 10 to 15 people working on the software at any one time. However what I noticed from reading the API documentation it mentions that the API call limit is tied to the organisation and not per user or per client so this would be a huge restriction for us. Hi Colin, So the limit is API calls in rolling 24 hours period per connection a unique pairing between an application and an Organisation and not at the user or account level.

I see that you have two private application under your name. Private application is a dedicated permanent connection to a single Organisation and you can have two such connections Private applications configured against single Xero Organisation. We are looking at ways to improve the API per day call limit in the future. That said I am unable to provide your with a time frame on it at the moment.

Many thanks. Hi, Sorry ignore my previous question. So in regards to the private application am i limited to the number of of connections that can be linked to an organisation? So for example if i have say 5 applications connected to the same organisation through the private authentication method would this not be possible?

Many thanks for the help. Hi Colin, As per our documentation here , you can only create 2 private application against single Xero Organisation. To answer your question you will not be able to create more than 2 private applications against single organisation.
